This little frog was sighted in the middle of a February day hopping over the deposition of washout sediment in a tributary feeding Bradley's Creek, heading toward the flowing creek
very funny hard to get the size but it looks quite rotund. would have thought Lim dum based on this but we might make it a new species- the sandpaper frog or something- very cute
Unless you are prepared to give the poor little blighter a wash before photographing, it can be very hard to id. I agree with AnkeMaria that in the first image it does appear rather rotund.
Nice to read all your comments! The sandpaper frog is a particularly good one. I wouldn't have dared try to wash it. If it helps narrow things down, at the site we have only ever recorded Limnodynastes dumerilii, Limnodynastes tasmaniensis, Litoria verreauxii, Crinia signifera, Crinia parinsignifera, and probably Uperoleia laevigata.
Now you are the funny one!! Only ever?? 6 species is pretty good out there - we often get only Crinias and Lim tas along Cotter Road or in the lower Cotter area- maybe the odd Lit verreauxii and only once a Lit latopalmata at the Cotter campground. Keep up the observant you!
